This post is all about makeup vanity decor ideas.
Your vanity is a mood-setter: your personal space to focus on self-care, get dolled up or unwind for the day. If you’re looking for some modern vanity decor ideas this post is for you!
I’ve had plenty of experience over the years looking for vanity decor that wouldn’t clutter my small bedroom. Fortunately, these days, I’ve been able to dedicate a specific spot in our home that I’ve combined into my vanity space/office.
Decorating your vanity is not a complicated process. As long as you’re matching functionality with decor, you’ll have your personal oasis set up in no time.
I’ll be sharing tips for staging vanity decor plus more modern vanity decor ideas from my Amazon wish list at the end of this post.
Picking the Right Vanity for You
Your vanity is the centerpiece of the entire area. Think about how you will be using your vanity and how much space you actually need.
Do you have a lot of makeup or skincare products?
Will you display them on the countertop?
Will you also be using your vanity as office space?
When I first started my makeup collection I bought everything from computer desks to hallway consoles. Eventually, I realized that storage and accessibility are key!
Take into consideration how many drawers are in the vanity, how deep the drawers are, or if having drawers are even necessary.
I opted for this black L-shaped computer desk. It was important for me to have enough space where I could use my laptop and still have enough space to lay out my makeup without setting powder accidentally falling off the desk.
What should I put on my makeup vanity?
- Trays
- Floral Arrangements or Greenery
- Candles
- Makeup Organizers
- Jewelry Holder
- Aesthetic Books or Magazines
- Knickknacks (keepsake, trinket, ornament, figure, or display piece that you own just to display it.)
Tips for Staging Your Vanity in 5 Steps
- Choose your centerpiece. This can be as simple as having your vanity mirror centered or the way you strategically line up your perfume collection.
- Utilize trays. This is the easiest way to keep your items organized. The best part about having trays is when you need a little extra space you’ll only have one item to more instead of individual pieces.
- Add height. A big part of staging to playing around with different elements of design. You can add height by stacking books and magazines.
- Choose pieces that are relaxing. When I think about vanities I think of them as a personal oasis where you can take a few minutes to sit and relax. Pieces such as candles, crystals, oil diffusers, or a live plant.
- Try different textures. Having the same material and textures across your entire vanity space will make everything look flat. Easy places to find texture are in the frames of artwork, mirrors, and vases.
If you still having trouble trying to figure out where to place every, start with large pieces and then move to medium and small. Take a step back to analyze what to add or subtract until it feels right to you.
