Temperatures are rising which means it’s time for skin tints. As someone who already loves Supergroop’s Unseen Sunscreen, I decided to try their new Supergoop Protectint.
What initially drew me to this product:
- tinted options for dark skin women
- SPF 50
In this review, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on Supergoop Protectint skin tint. Whether you’re into a full glam or prefer minimal makeup a skin tint could be just what you need to slay all summer.
First Impressions of Supergoop Protecting Skin Tint
I currently use Unseen Sunscreen by Supergoop with SPF 40 and I absolutely love it. It’s comfortable and it stays on for a good bit of the day.
Now that Supergroop has a skin tint that has SPF 50, you get a little more protection with some coverage. As someone who does not wear makeup to work, this is definitely a product I would consider wearing day to day.
This Supergroop Protectint retails for $44. I feel like it’s a reasonable price compared to other foundations you would find at Sephora. Especially if you’re looking for this product to replace your everyday foundation.
Approaching the display, I was surprised by the size. I was expecting a larger bottle but according to the packaging you get 1.18 fl. oz which is a little more than your typical foundation.
Choosing the Right Shade for Supergoop Protecting Skin Tint
I always check a product’s shade range online first before going into the store, just to get an idea of which shades to reach for first.
Right away, I noticed that I probably only fell into the last three colors, which are:
- 46N deep neutral
- 52N very deep neutral
- 58W very deep warm.
Supergoop gave us two neutrals and one warm undertone, I immediately noticed there were no options for someone who is dark-skinned with cool undertones. The color that I picked up was 52N very deep neutral.
52N was the best shade match for me. It blended in very well, but I can probably go for the 58W (the darkest shade) as we get farther into the summer months. If you are of a darker complexion, unfortunately, this skin tint might not be an option for you.
Application and Coverage of Supergoop Protecting Skin Tint
To apply the Supergroup Protectint I did my normal makeup routine which includes skincare and using a gripping primer.
In my skincare routine, I do use hyaluronic acid even though the skin tint already has hyaluronic acid in it. I applied the skin tint to the back of my hand then applied it to my face using a brush. The claim says this coverage is lightweight and buildable. I can confirm it is lightweight and comfortable on the skin.
Along with my dark spots, I also had a lot of texture on my forehead while testing out the skin tint.
After applying, my complexion looked more even and didn’t do too badly with covering up my dark spots. With a skin tint, I expect to see dark spots peeking through without color correcting.
Knowing that skin tints are supposed to leave you with a natural skin-like finish, I don’t mind a little bit of dark spots peeking through.
The Supergroup Protectint felt like I didn’t have anything on, which was great. I loved that.
I did need to use a good amount to cover my entire face because I think the product was a little bit thicker than I expected. Most skin tints I come across are more runny to compensate for the “lightweight” formula.
But in this case, Supergoop did a good job with this formula considering both moisture and coverage.
Finishing Touches with Supergoop Protecting Skin Tint
I did set the skin tint using MAC Studio Fix Powder in NW55, and my skin still had a glowy finish. Even with all the bronzing powder and setting powder that I used, everything looked like a healthy glow. I did not feel like I had any heavy foundation, it was very comfortable.
Wear Test of Supergoop Protecting Skin Tint
I did an 11-hour wear test from 10:30 am to 9:30 pm night. The temperature was about 80 degrees, so I was very surprised at how well it stayed put. And I did not use any setting spray, which is a big plus.
Final Thoughts
In this review, I shared my experience with the new Supergoop Protecting Skin Tint with SPF 50. I praise this skin tint for its comfortable wear and suitability for a natural, everyday look. Despite initial concerns about the product’s size and shade range, I found a good match in the 52N (very deep neutral) shade. I appreciate the lightweight, buildable coverage, which evens out my skin tone while maintaining a natural glow. After a full day of wear in warm weather, the skin tint remains effective without the need for setting spray, making it a staple for the summer.
