Mario is famously known for creating the beautiful makeup looks of Kim Kardashian. Having access to products that compliment is techniques and allow makeup artist around the world to experiment with is such a big deal for the beauty industry.

Pigmentation
The Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin Foundation has buildable coverage. My personal test when it comes to coverage is seeing how well it covers up my dark spots and I honestly pretty satisfied about the results. My darkest spots still had some pigmentation peaking through but because this foundation is said to give a skin like finish, I’d say it did the job. A second layer would’ve definitely covered up my dark marks.
Formula
The moisture gripping formula definitely lives up to its claim. As someone with dry skin I continued to look well moisturized by the end of my day. I find that some foundations end up looking oily after a couple of hours. But this foundation lived up to its skin-like glow.
Application
Makeup by Mario has a dual-ended foundation brush (F 4 Brush) that I did not purchase. I used my Morphe M6 flat foundation brush and had no problem with the blend. I even made sure to use a small amount to see how much coverage I would be about to get without extra pumps. I was very satisfied with the smoothness of this foundation. It gave me a natural even complexion type of look. Which is what we all hope for in a foundation.
Longevity
I was able to do a wear test of this foundation for about 8 hours, and I was surprised at how well it held up. I applied setting powder around my under eyes and nose and was surprised that I did not need to add any extra throughout the day. I noticed my oils started to come though around my nose area (which is typically the only oily part of my face) but it just looked glowy and not greasy. The foundation got major points for that.
Shade Range
The Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin Foundation comes in 30 shades. I was able to find my shade pretty easily thanks to the simple glass packaging. Adding the undertones to the names of each shade also helped in assuring that I picked up the correct shade.
Would I Recommend SurrealSkin Foundation?
I would definitely suggest this foundation for anyone with dry skin because of the hydrating formula. The comfortability of this foundation and how well it held up through the day definitely brought it to the top of my list. It has ingredients that are beneficial to wear as an everyday foundation as well as a great formula to keep you looking glowy for any day long event.
Final Thoughts
- I loved it. It may very well be my new go-to foundation.
- Great for dry and combination skin, but might not hold up as well during a long day for oily skin.
- Hearing social media concerns about the formula having glitter is not something to worry about. It may be visible in the bottle but not upon application.
