Is Ipsy Worth It In 2025? Honest Ipsy Review
Let’s keep it 100, being a beauty lover will have you deleting your monthly budget as soon as a new foundation drops. I found myself brainstorming ways to feed my beauty addiction, then my best friend suggested I join Ipsy.
Clearly I wasn’t thinking hard enjoy because a beauty subscription box service was a genius idea. For just a few bucks a month, I get a mix products delivered to my door without breaking the bank.
In this post, I’ll break down how Ipsy works, what you can expect, and whether it’s worth it.

What is Ipsy?
Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that allows you to try products from different beauty brands at an affordable price. Once you take their beauty quiz, Ipsy will tailor the products that best fit your preference.
What subscription plans does Ipsy offer in 2025?
Ipsy currently offers three memberships, Glam Bag, Boxy Charm, and Icon Box.
Glam Bag – $14: You get a makeup bag delivered to your home monthly. This Glam Bag comes with 5 “deluxe-size” beauty products (worth up to $70). You get to choose 1 product. The rest are chosen for you.
Boxy Charm – $32: You get 5 full-size beauty products (worth up to $200) delivered to your home monthly. You get to choose 1 product. The rest are chosen for you.
Icon Box – Additional $51 a Quarter: You get 8 full-size beauty products (worth up to $350). The biggest difference of this box is that it is curated by well-known celebrities and this box comes every 3 months (Feb, May, Aug, Nov).
Think of it as you getting everything mentioned in a Vogue Beauty Secrets video.
But note, to sign up for an Icon Box you must already be signed up for one of the other subscription boxes.
Ipsy also offers the option to combine plans so you can sign up to receive both the Glam Bag and Boxy Charm Box every month.
How does the monthly subscription work?
Every month you are given a small window of time to choose what products you want to go inside your bag/box. Once your items are picked it takes about a week to assemble your bag/box. After the assembly of your box, it’ll be on its way to your front door in about a week.
I’ve noticed the quicker you pick your items the faster you’ll receive your package.
When choosing your items Ipsy will pick a section of products for you first, and then you’ll be able to choose from that specific selection. Unfortunately, you don’t have control over choosing whether is makeup, skincare, or hair products but the options are usually a good mix of each category.
If you miss the window of time to pick your items Ipsy will pick them for you. I’ve missed my window twice and decided it would be best to set a reminder on my phone so I don’t end up with products I already have.

Ipsy Boxy Charm: The Good and the Bad
I received quality products from well known brands like Rare Beauty, Natasha Denona, Ofra and more. I also got to try out brands I’ve never heard of before but the quality was just as good.
When I received my first Boxy Charm box I was curious to see if the price point was actually worth it: One of the products I received was a full sized L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream which retails for $32 on Sephora’s website. Considering I paid $32 for the whole box…the girl math was mathing.
Another feature I love on Ipsy is the ability to add extra products to your order for at a one of a kind discounted price. I’ve added items from First Aid Beauty for as little as $5.00. Major steal!
Of course with the good comes the not so good. The window to pick your items is short, so if you’re the type to Google everything before committing, I suggest setting a timer so you don’t end up with items your don’t care for.
In one of my most recent boxes I didn’t finish picking my items and ended up with items I already have and don’t really use as is. So yeah, I was a little disappointed.
