Review of the Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint
One thing about this foundation is that the glow is undeniable! The natural glow on the model’s skin immediately stopped my scroll, and I knew I had to try this foundation for myself.
When I first saw the words “sheer” and “tint” I instantly thought, this would be perfect for a no makeup, makeup look. The foundation has a sheer finish, making it perfect for low-effort makeup days.
Product Claims
This foundation claims to give the skin a soft focus ring light effect and is designed to be hydrating while blurring and smoothing the skin.
Shade Range
The Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint comes in a pretty solid range of 20 shades. Among these, there are 5 deeper shades, each with different undertones—neutral, warm, and cool.
On my first Sephora run, I grabbed shade 16 Deep, which is supposed to have cool undertones. I usually go for foundations with warm undertones, so I was a bit thrown off when this one looked warmer than expected in the bottle. And shade 15 Deep seemed too light so I swatched it on my hand.
Initially, shade 16 Deep seemed like a good match, but as I continued my makeup routine, it started to darken a bit and really showed off those cool undertones.
After a few tries, I decided to switch to shade 15 Deep, which has warm undertones. This shade blended perfectly and looked almost invisible on my skin.
Formula
Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint’s key ingredients:
Plant-powdered collagen: to improve the firmness and elasticity of the skin
Hyaluronic acid: which helps prevent moisture loss
Daikon Radish Seed Oil and Vitamin E: help hydrate and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
I can definitely feel the hydrating ingredients working their magic. The formula contains Vitamin E, which I’m familiar with as I use an organic Vitamin E oil in my skincare routine—it leaves a similar glow to my skin. So, I know this glow will last all day!
Application
Although I also picked up the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream which is said to be great for dry skin, I decided to test this foundation on clean dry skin.
Given the glowy finish, this foundation promises, I figured we would not need it.
First Thoughts: “Wow, I’m very glowy!”
The foundation felt like applying light face oil. I haven’t used a stick foundation in ages, mainly because they can be hard to blend onto dry skin. However, this one didn’t disappoint. It’s quite hydrating and almost has a slippery, silky consistency.
After applying the foundation to my whole face, I realized I was just not used to such a glowy finish—I felt like I looked a bit oily. So, I decided to set it with a bit of powder to tone down the shine.
Coverage
On one side of my face, I do have more hyperpigmentation, so I was curious to see how much coverage I could get out of it.
Now, here’s the thing: when you have dry skin, any texture or flakiness is likely to be emphasized by glowy products. I noticed the foundation picked up on some texture, but that’s expected with any luminous formula.
Considering this foundation is sheer, I was expecting a lot more of my hyperpigmentation to peak though. Instead, I got a lovely blurring effect which is stated in their claims.
I kept the rest of my makeup simple with a pair of lashes and some brows. However, I noticed you must be light-handed with your other products.
I used my usual amount of concealer, but because the foundation is sheer, I ended up doing a lot more blending than usual. The same goes for my cream contour and powders; everything looked a bit more intense.
Longevity
I tested this foundation for about 6 hours with setting powder and still had a beautiful healthy glow.
For oily skin, you might notice that it requires more touch-ups. Oily skin can sometimes break down the product more quickly, leading to a shorter wear time.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I would definitely consider this an innovative product because of the amount of glow you get from this product in stick form.
After using powders, I still have a very healthy glow. I think this foundation would work well for two specific techniques:
- Underpainting Technique: Doing all your contour and highlight underneath and then applying the foundation on top to create a natural, radiant look.
- Under a Matte Foundation: If you have dry skin but prefer a matte finish, I can see this foundation helping to add hydration to the skin.
I don’t think people with oily skin would benefit as much from the Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint as much as those with dry skin.
For those with dry skin, like myself, I do think this is worth keeping in your makeup bag as a daily use foundation. It’s a great option for achieving a dewy, fresh look!
