Liquid blush has definitely been on every beauty lover’s want list this year. I originally wanted to try the new Rare Beauty liquid blush but it never seems to be in stock. So, I decided to purchase the NARS Liquid Blush in the color Torrid.
To be honest, before liquid blush became a trend, I barely included blush in my makeup routine. The reason is I’ve always had a hard time finding a blush that showed up on my skin tone. Blushes typically range between pinks and oranges. On my skin tone, pink blushes barely show up, but peaches and oranges give a nice glow to my skin.
NARS Liquid blush is currently only available in 3 shades: Orgasm (a light pink and most popular shade), Torrid (a coral pink – the one I purchased), and Dolce Vita (dusty rose). Torrid is the closest shade to peach out of the three but is still pinkish side.
The bottle is 0.5 oz for $30. In my opinion, this blush is a splurge, but it’s also expected when purchasing from prestige beauty brands.
One thing that will always keep me purchasing from NARS is the packaging. I absolutely love the matte bottles & the slightly velvet-textured black packaging.
The Liquid blush comes with a pump applicator (which is great), but you may not realize it a first because of how tight the cap is. When I first pulled the cap off I thought it was a stick applicator. I quickly hopped on Instagram and realized my pump was stuck in the cap. This seems to be a common issue but a quick fix: just put the cap back on and twist it so the pump is secure.
My first impression after applying the liquid blush was that it was very sheer.
When I first swatched the blush on my wrist I was surprised and hoping for the same pigment to pay off my cheeks. After blending it in the pigment definitely faded into my skin. I figured maybe it needed to be set with the powder since they have matching colors in powder form. Luckily I had NARS powder blush in Orgasm.
Even after setting the blush, the color was still very faint. Taking into consideration that was doing a very full coverage look. I decided to try on the liquid blush again with a skin tint.
I would recommend NARS liquid blush to anyone with normal to dry skin and a fair to medium skin tone. If you have a darker complexion, like me, I would stick to the powder blush before deciding to buy the liquid blush.
